What is e-Trends?

e-Trends is a service of comScore, Inc, www.comscore.com, a leading online market research company that provides insight into consumer behavior and attitudes. e-Trends members are randomly selected to be part of our program. Just as the television networks use rating services to determine which are the most watched programs; much of the Internet community relies on e-Trends and other market research panel members to understand the likes and dislikes of Internet users. As a research organization, our goal is to understand your browsing and buying habits without influence. For this reason, we do not advertise on our site or sell your name to any business for marketing purposes.

What benefits do I receive as an e-Trends member?
|
By becoming an e-Trends member, you are entitled to great, exclusive members-only benefits along with the knowledge that you are helping influence the future of the Internet.

To receive the full member benefits you must install the e-Trends software and correctly fill out all of the demographic questions that are asked when registering for e-Trends. Also, we must see Internet activity from your e-Trends configured computer at least once every 6 weeks in order remain an active member and to receive the e-Trends benefits.

How can I join e-Trends?
|
There are a few simple steps to becoming an e-Trends member:
- You must be invited through a random selection process to participate in the e-Trends program. Your invitation may have come by phone survey, supermarket coupon or through the mail.
- Using the provided id, complete the online registration process, providing e-Trends with your contact and household information.
- Then proceed with installing the e-Trends software onto your computer and accepting the membership agreement.

What if I forget my household id or password?
|
If you forget your household id or password you can contact us at 1-800-964-4638 or use our online support form, please provide your full name and email address. You may also click on “I forget my password” under the member log in page to receive your password by email.

What if my contact information changes?
|
You can modify your contact information, including email address at anytime by logging onto the e-Trends members’ section using your household and password. Additionally, you can make any changes in your personal information by contacting us.

When will I receive my incentive payment?
|
Your first incentive payment on your prepaid Visa® card will be sent to you after you have had e-Trends installed on your computer for at least 30 days while remaining active on the internet. Prepaid cards will take approximately two weeks to process and will be sent to you by mail. Our quarterly payments are applied to your prepaid Visa card after three months of activity, accessing the Internet at least once every six weeks and keeping the e-Trends software on your computer. As a registered e-Trends member you can view your account at anytime by logging in using your household id and password.

How do I uninstall e-Trends software from my computer?
|
We appreciate your participation as an e-Trends panelist. However, if you decide to stop participating in e-Trends and uninstall our software you may do so using the following instructions.
- Go to your Start menu in the lower left hand corner of computer screen.
- In the menu select Settings then Control Panel
- Under the Control Panel menu, find and select the icon for “Add/Remove Programs” (or “Programs and Features” in Vista).
- Locate e-Trends from the auto populated list of software currently installed on your computer. Highlight e-Trends and then hit the Remove (or “uninstall” in Vista) button.
- This will prompt you to confirm that you do want to remove e-Trends.
- Once your computer says the software has been removed, reboot your computer to confirm that the “e” icon is no longer there.

How and what information is collected?
|
When you register to be a part of e-Trends, we request certain basic demographic information, such as name, address, e-mail address, and education, about you and other persons who live with you or have the same mailing address as you (collectively, we call this your "Household"). After you accept the User License Agreement and register, our software then anonymously collects additional information about your Household’s Internet behavior through the computers on which you and members of your Household have installed the e-Trends software. e-Trends monitors your Internet surfing and information about the web pages that you visit and the actions that you take, such as your purchases and transactions. This information is then combined with other e-Trends member data and other information to create an aggregate view of Internet e-commerce. In all cases, e-Trends does not share your name or personal information.

Is my personal information kept confidential?
|
e-Trends has extensive information security procedures in place to ensure that your personal information is always stored in a secured facility and protected from unauthorized use, modification or disclosure. e-Trends does not share your personal information with our clients. Being a research organization, we are in the business of understanding your likes and dislikes and do not want to influence your Internet usage. For these reasons, you can be assured that we will never advertise on our site or sell your personal information to any businesses for marketing purposes. How do companies use the information that you report on?

e-Trends does not share your personal information with our clients; however, we do provide clients with reports on general Internet trends and online behavior based on the information compiled from our members. The information provided by all e-Trends members will enable businesses to gain insights, either online or offline, that may affect prices, on-line services, available product choices, and much more – thus making the Internet a more efficient marketplace. What if I am having problems with my e-Trends membership or software?

Are there any machine or browser requirements for e-Trends?
|
The minimum requirements for your machine are that you have a Pentium compatible processor with at least 64MB of RAM. In general we support Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Netscape running on Windows 2000 or higher. Currently, we do not support Macintosh. How do I know if I installed the software properly?
|
Once you have completed the registration process and installed the e-Trends software onto your computer, you will see an e-Trends icon in the systray at the bottom right hand corner of your desktop.  After you have installed the software, please reboot your computer and then login to the e-Trends member's page and click "Test" to see if your computer is configured with the e-Trends software.
You will also receive confirmation by e-mail that you are member of e-Trends. We recommend that you regularly check for the e-Trends icon in the systray. If you do not see it or would like more information, please contact us using our online support form.

Will e-Trends interfere with my Internet surfing activity?
|
No, the e-Trends software will not interfere with your Internet surfing activity. Our network may require you to identify yourself from time to time, but this would be done without interrupting your Internet access. Is e-Trends considered "spyware" or "adware"?
|
No, we are not spyware or adware. Spyware is a program that tracks your Internet activity without your permission. Adware is a program that posts advertising to your computer. e-Trends should never be confused with spyware or adware, it is ResearchWare.
Unlike spyware or adware, e-Trends:
- Does not install onto your computer without your permission
- Does not cause advertisements to appear on your computer
- Does not sell your personal information to companies for direct marketing purposes
- Does not change the behavior of your web browser
- Does transmit data in a secure manner
- Does contain a built-in uninstall program so you can remove it when desired
- Does separate personally identifiable information from other program data
